The PROSEC Partner Meeting of the expert network for metal-free prosthetics and ceramic implantology took place at the end of January, for the first time in the form of a webinar, due to the current situation. The program was moderated by the Chairman of the PROSEC Scientific Board, Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Jörg Strub, who pointed out right at the beginning: “In 2021, the PROSEC Research Grant will again provide financial support for new research projects!”

Change of focus and new members of the PROSEC Scientific Board

Strub also reported on the decision to focus more on metal-free prosthetics in the future, in order to further advance the successful collaboration between dentists, dental technicians and material scientists. In this context, he announced the competent and renowned new members of the PROSEC Scientific Board. Dentist Dr. Sven-Marcus Beschnidt from Baden-Baden, Germany, Dentist PD Dr. Sigmar Schnutenhaus from Hilzingen, Germany, and the two Master Dental Technicians Luc and Patrick Rutten from Tessenderlo, Belgium, are appointed as new members. They have assumed their roles as of March. Prof. Dr. Florian Beuer from Berlin will act as Vice Chairman of the Scientific Expert Panel in the future.

NEW: PROSEC Recommendations 2020

“Choices are always individual. What we provide you with by means of the PROSEC Recommendations are a guideline and a structure to choose the right material,” Prof. Dr. Florian Beuer from Berlin described the added value when presenting the new Recommended Action for all-ceramic restorations on teeth and implants. Dr. Michael Tholey from Bad Säckingen summarized the new Recommended Action for tooth shade determination.

“Due to its reproducibility and accuracy, digital tooth shade determination is superior to analog determination, which is subject to major external influences,” Tholey stated and named further resources and networking possibilities between laboratory and practice.

Call for active participation

“This is where you get involved! If you have any change requests or suggestions, please let us know,” Strub encouraged PROSEC Partners to actively contribute to the PROSEC Recommendations, which can now be viewed at prosec.network/rec. Looking ahead to the numerous activities planned for 2021 and looking forward to a real-world and healthy reunion, Strub concluded the PROSEC Partner Online Meeting 2021.
